NEEDS
PIXIUM is a non-profit organization that offers a supportive platform for teens to develop their knowledge and skills in new media and web development through PIXIUM programs and clubs. (Inspiration: Girls Who Code).
At the time of this project, I was overwhelmed learning the amount of new media technologies and web development programs in college. I felt that, if only I had more time to develop and practice these skills and test my knowledge, my work could be at the level I envisioned.
A major issue was feeling inadequate due to lack of experience and little time for development. The conception of PIXIUM was a solution: a platform and program to make time for development by starting earlier.
SOLUTION
The brand is trendy, interesting, inspiring, supportive. It is a blend of traditional and modern mediums of art and design. We want users to be inspired and engage in the community by starting their creative journey early in a professional and supportive space.
The use of engaging and professional media examples on the website is showcased to capture the interest of the youth and persuade parents of the impact new media has in the business, marketing and design industries.
The name PIXIUM combines the two words pixel + medium. Pixels references the digitization of our everyday life thus transforming the web as a new medium for creating, communicating and sharing art and design.
